It Is FINISHED!!

 My Sweet, Sweet Myla,
When our adoption was finalized on Wednesday, my heart rejoiced!  So many thoughts poured through my veins.  I couldn’t believe that exactly one year and one week after our home study was completed our adoption was final…finished…over.  We had nothing left to do but proclaim to the world that you- our amazing little bundle of joy is ours forever! The whole day the phrase, “It is finished"  rang through my mind.

Myla, you are our joy.  Daddy and I cherish you each and every day.  I can honestly say that I forget that you didn’t come from my womb.  I have learned so much from you, sweet girl!  You have taught me that love goes so much deeper than blood.  I have learned that the months I carried you in my heart are just as bonding to a mother’s heart as carrying a babe in the womb.

MyMy Girl, I have to be honest with you.  I trusted God to start the adoption process; however, not long after I allowed the voice of man to push fear into my heart and mind.  Many said we would never be chosen due to the fact that we already had 6 children.  It was also a common occurrence to have eyes bug out when we told people we needed $30,000.
FEAR!  FEAR!  FEAR!!

There were days that I allowed dark clouds to hover over me.  I should have just called on the Father more instead of listening to man.  He had a plan!  Why did I doubt?  He knew you were ours!  Why didn’t I just trust more, pray more, and hope more?  But through it all, you have made me a better person.  I needed to go through those days of fear so I could be more like Christ.  I had to face the days of doubt so I could be the momma you deserve!

You melt my heart!  I know that you feel the abundance of love this family has for you!  I can see it in your actions.  I can feel it by the way there are just times you want Momma more than anyone else!  I love those moments.J

Well, pretty little one, it is finished!  The adoption process is anyway, but for us it is just the beginning.  I love you from head to toe and can’t wait to see what the Lord has for us!

No one loves you as I

April Adventures

This evening was the last post placement visit with our social worker.  I can't believe that we are so close to our finalization.  Our Miss Myla will be officially ours on May 8th.
Do a little dance with me friends.  What we know in our hearts will be proven on paper in just  14 days...she is ours-forever and ever.

A couple of weeks ago the sun burst through the horrible clouds that have hovered over our heads this long winter.  Bryan and I decided we would adventure out and take the kiddos  to the zoo.
It was a special day.  Myla wasn't certain about her surrounding so she looked to me as she often does when she needs reassurance.
After she received the security she needed from Momma, she was all smiles.  Fun stuff.
I think the carousal ride was a hit.  What do you think?
I love my dudes.
Oh, my sweet girls I loved my day with you.
 What a day to remember.

OURS

Our little Myla isn't so little any more.
Myla just up from a nap.  Not in a smiling mood just yet.
She got two teeth last week.  Can she really be this big?
Aunt Shelley holding Myla

She is almost sitting up on her own.
She is almost "officially" ours.  In May, we should have our day in court.  I can tell you this.
Myla looking at the camera like it is weird.  She will only smile for pictures when someone is behind me.  She doesn't want to smile at a big, black box.
She is ours through and through.  We don't need paper work or the court to make it official.  She has been officially ours before she even took her first breath.
She is our joy.  She is our love.  She is our beauty.  It is a hourly event to hear proclaimed, "You are so pretty."  by someone in the house.

She Was So We Could

Earlier this month, our Miss Myla had the taste of her first foods.  It was such a grand event that the kiddos would have paid ticket money to watch.  I was threatened many times to not feed her for the first time unless everyone was home so they could witness the grand event.
No one was disappointed!  She put on great performance.
It once again left me with the feeling of gratitude for our birthmother.
She was the one to sacrifice her life, body, weight, and more so that we could love each moment with our Lovie.
She was the one to turn her face away from the thought of abortion so that we could cherish her milestones.
She was the one to give her life so we could watch her live it.

She Believed

I don’t know why, but I have found that I go through times of intense feelings for our birthmother.  I think of her each and every day.  We even pray for her during our family morning prayer time; however, some days are just plain intense.
I wish I knew if she feels our love.
I wish I knew if she feels the Lord wrapping his arms around her for he loves her more than anyone.
The only thing I do know is the Lord created me for such a time as this.  He made me to have feelings of love that I never dreamed I could have.  It is Him that works in my heart to love the women who gave Myla life and then lovingly chose me to be her Momma.

She believed that I was the one to love Myla and guide her in life.  And I am!
She believed I would love every moment of being her mom.  And I do!
She believed that the most important decision was for Myla to grow up knowing the Lord.  And it is!
Thanks, dear birth mom, for believing!!

Tell Me How

Someone tell me how this happened?!
How did Myla go from this
to this?
She is growing up so fast!

Diaper Angels!!

Dear Diaper Angels,
When we arrived home from Arizona, we were greeted by a huge pile of diapers.  Many of the diapers didn't have a name or card to go with them so I wasn't able to properly thank individuals for the HUGE BLESSING.
Myla in her diaper.  Thanks friends:)
I am excited to announce that Myla will be 4 months on Sunday and we still have not had to purchase one pack of diapers...NOT ONE.
Myla looking at Mommy to end the picture madness.
In fact, we still have 10 packs remaining.  What a huge gift.
Myla longing for her pacifier and crib.
I want to shout to all that each and every penny, dollar, or diaper that was given to help us bring Myla home has been a treasure...a blessing to the Elliott Gang.
Myla saying thank you to her diaper angels from the "bottom" of her heart.

THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!

Only One

Only one year ago this month, Bryan and Isaiah took a mission trip where it took only one little lady to steal Bryan’s heart which led to us starting the adoption process.

We prayed and researched for someone to help us through the journey.   Tracie Loux was the only one who spoke to our hearts.  She was a friend along the way.
After applying to multiple agencies and attorneys, we were matched after only one profile showing.  Out of all the families that  could have been chosen, we were the only one for the sweet babe.
It took only one glance at our beauty to know that she was forever ours.
We were able to take only one child off the list of children who need a forever home.
If you feel the Lord calling you to take this journey, remember for one dear child you are the only one he/she needs.

The Lord did all this in only one year with only one family for one child.

To Think

To think, we could have missed out on this treasure.

To think, just a simple "no", because we have a lot of kids would have robbed us of loving her.

To think, fear of not having extra money in the bank could have been a wall that prevented her from being in the arms of a loving father.

To think, the demands of life in ministry could have been a great excuse to close the door on adoption causing our children to miss out on their Joy.

To really think about what we have gained is overwhelming.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
